Each month the president of the society writes a column for the JSSS, here is a sample from a 2001 issue of the JSSS
There are many old photographs of Jenolan, but as far as other areas of NSW are concerned few photographs exist.
(Photo: Visitors to Bungonia caves circa 1930's. Few old photos of visitors to Bungonia exist.)
One of these are shown above. If you ask around you might be able to obtain photos of the caving
area as well as people in the the area. If you do contact Ross or myself.
Whilst in last month's colum I mentioned that our webpage would be on air in about a week's time. This did not eventuate,
not for want of trying. Tom has indicated that it is only a matter of days and we should see our web page again.
(It has happened and you are looking at it right now. The Webmaster)
There will be some pleasant surprises and should repay the many hours spent by Tom Santa and Dave Fisher.
At the last Talks Evening Videos were shown instead of a speaker.
The Videos were by courtesy Ross Ellis.
None of the videos had been seen before by the audience, which is quite surprising.
One video was on cave diving in The Wookey Hole Great Britain using mixed gases. A well presented and interesting video.
Another on Chillagoe Caves featuring Andy Spate. Again an interesting video.
We still have quite a few interesting videos to show so please come to the next Video Night.
You won't be disappointed.
We understand (other than airline failures) it was a great success. About 16 Australian attended,
with few USA cavers as they were running a a clashing speleo congress.
The other countries were well represented.
The promised talks on Brazil and the Congress should be very interesting.

The Annual Dinner will be held on Friday 7th September 2001 at Woodstock Burwood Road Burwood. The guest Speaker is Annalisa Contos who will give an illustrated talk titled Slimey Speleology.
We know the next weekend has the Speleo Games and Cavers Dinner but do make an effort to come.
Be sure to invite any of your old speleo friends. I am sure they will have a great time.
