Come along to this above ground skills and training session to be hosted by SSS Training officer, Emma Bonwick.  Be sure to RSVP and contact Emma if you are planning to come.  Participation in training days is essential for members looking to undertake caving trips that involve the use of Single Rope Techniques such as abseiling and prussiking.

At this training day you will learn the basics of Harness setup, fit and the essential equipment used.  You will learn about Abseiling both on straight pitches and learn to decend and cross over re-directs and re-belays.  You will learn how to then ascend the ropes and again, cross re-directs and re-belays this time on your way up.

The training venue is a cliff line in the bush to the North - East of the Hawkesbury Lookout which is on Hawkesbury Road close to Hawkesbury Heights.  To find the location walk from the lookout along the road towards the North for a few hundred meters until you see a faint track leading into the bush going east.  We'll mark this spot with a tape marker on the day.  Attendees can arrive at different times; it is not essential that you be at the training from the start to the finish as the instruction will be informal and often 1 on 1.
